Isn’t it a bit ironic how cryptocurrencies are supposed to be decentralized, but yet they are so heavily dependent on / linked to BTC?
Is there a reason coins can’t automatically be paired with fiat without the intermediation of BTC!
I’d like to start off by stating that I am not a cryptocurrency connaisseur, I am just interested by it. I find the idea of a decentralised electronic currency incredibly interesting and futuristic, although I will not deny that I am currently not financially independent but am responsible, and as such I’ve had difficulty putting my personal funds where my mouth is.
My first experience with crypto has been with Garlicoin. The community behind it was very active and instructive, memes were shared, fun times had, and overall I had my introductions to mining, cold/hot wallet discussions, and HODLing. This was about a year ago.
I currently have some money that I was given as a gift and want to invest it in crypto. I am a fearful man: I am not particularly keen on taking up challenges or endeavours that will end badly or that I do not know for sure I can handle. However I want to grow in that aspect of my life and learn how to handle disappointment, and do so for the knowledge and experience I’ll gain through the process.
What I am asking for in this post is a nudge to invest this gift (which I’m prepared to lose, as I did not earn it) by having members of the community share their relationship with crypto.
Do you invest in it because you’re eager to see it become a worldwide commonplace payment method? Or because you wish to see it topple conventional paper currencies? Do you wish to see it radically change global commerce and trade someday? Are you doing it for the fun of it, as a hobby? Did it turn from a hobby into a serious commitment, or maybe even a draining addiction? What were your best and worst days?
I feel that the question what would you do differently if you could go back X units in time wouldn’t be constructive because AFAIK crypto seems to be a lot about speculation and you can’t always accurately predict the future, but if you have a generally constructive tip then by all means please share.
Thanks for reading this, I really appreciate it.
Hazing- Bought ETH at an average $1,000 with my $13,000 savings Jan 2018.
Saw the Dip and DCAd with monthly paychecks until ETH hit 420.
Sold at a loss 20% of my investment to cover a debt.
Haven’t touched my wallet in 3 months since.
FFW 2019, will be to getting $30000 debt in June to finance another project. I’m tempted to divert 50% of the amount into VET,BTCÐ .
Am I crazy to DCA further or should I wake up and smell the coffee.
We just need a decentralized service that could convert Bitcoin and other currencies into DAI for use as payment. It would help adoption and deter business from being wary of volatility. Anybody else see the potential in this? Is the solution right in front of our eyes?
This is what they would say. I watch a shit load of Shark Tank.
Guys, its a great thing, its fantastic, and I love what you’ve done with it. But your saying it will be adopted, and it’ll moon again. Let me ask you this. You got all the exposure in the world in 2017, Bitcoin had its insanely viral moment. The guy behind you at the grocery store was talking about Bitcoin, it was everywhere. That was the time for it to be adopted, and I’m just not seeing it. How do you even begin to adopt it, what would that look like? A currency? No its to volatile. Digital gold? Actual gold isn’t a great investment, why would I start putting money in digital gold? Soeehhrry guys, I’m out.
I mean its QVC, its perfect for QVC, I sell a lot of stuff online I know people. But I think it had its moment, and that was the time to capitalize on it. I just see it as a risky penny stock, so I’m sorry but for now I’m out.
Mr. Wonderful –
I’m a horny noodle for views and attention so I’m going to lean forward and touch my fingertips together while talking as much shit as possible. Listen I think its a terrible idea, there are thousands of things to invest in, and your choosing an unregulated penny stock full of market manipulation, hacks, and scams. Why not invest in a company like Overstock? Their stock has followed crypto since 2016-2017. Overstock is even selling their online business and switching entirely to blockchain tech. If you believe in the tech, and your in it for the tech, why invest in the unregulated dangerous market vs. an established company with a great CEO as the frontman? I’ll give you a royalty deal. I’ll give you $100k as a line of credit with 85% interest, I get $.50 for every $1 you make, and I take 50% equity in your company.
Listen I do clothes, I don’t know shit about blockchain, I’m out.
Hey guys blockchain is new, its innovative, it has its uses and benefits down the road. But right now, it had its viral moment, and I’m not seeing anything to indicate its heading to the moon. I’ll put my name behind some bullshit projects and collect royalties just like any other savvy investor up on this panel but I won’t put cash into it. Its to early, there are better ways to invest in this field, overstock, tech companies, I’m out.
