I read a few posts and watched youtube videos in the last few months about more and more commerces now accepting Bitcoin.
As I am travelling to Japan right now, and looking for ways to spend my Bitcoin, I visited one Bic Camera store and made a purchase worth 0.031 BTC
The vendor provided me the address, I paid the Bitcoin with higher fees, the transaction was confirmed within 1-2 minutes. Yet he said the money wasn’t received on their part. He told me I will get reimbursed and to come back the next day to buy the product.
Then I received an email from BitFlyer telling me they will reimburse me the money as soon as they confirm it was received on their part. By that time, the transaction was already confirmed hundreds times on the blockchain, and the Address I sent it to already spent it. They asked me to create an account on BitFlyer so I can get my money back. I did create an account on their website. Then one week later they write to me, telling me they can confirm they received my money, but it will take time to get my reimbursement. Now it’s been three weeks and haven’t received a word from them.
I am very pissed by this. They just took me 300 dollars worth of bitcoin and claimed the transaction never happenned. Bic Camera do not want to deal with the issue as they pretend I am not their customer. I do not care what process they use behind the counter nor what exchange they deal with. They advertise they accept Bitcoin and yet whoever is in charge of the address they gave to me stole my money.
The problem isn’t with Bitcoin per say. The problem is ‘regulated’ or ‘official’ companies that pretend to accept bitcoin but in the end fraud its customers. As my BTC is already lost and I still have no access to customer support, I have nowhere to let people know about the fraud, except here.
So there it is. I don’t know what to do, except rent here and let you guys know the experience is not always positive. They stole my money.
